Back To The Future Trilogy

I always held back watching Back To The Future (yes, indeed, I'm a naturally born procrastinator) because I thought that I had more interesting movie to watch. But, one day, I gave it a try. I watched Back To The Future Part 1, and I'm in love with the whole its idea!

Seriously, I think there should be more films with this kinda of theme. It's a fun  Sci-Fi Movie (I meant, really fun one but not like Predestination kinda fun). The way Robert Zemeckis told us a story about time travelling was so simple and easy, not to mention, very interesting. Like you're watching a movie about time travelling, tangent universe and asking how does time work, without getting tangled. You'll just understand it naturally, without thinking too hard. I love how Robert Zemeckis simplify this movie to make children understand about its story. This movie is so humble and definitely a classic that I'd make my children watch, someday :)

But, the most annoying about it was the connection between part 1, part 2 and part 3. It had always been like... Marty time traveled, Marty found Biff, Biff chased Marty, Biff ended up burried in a pile of crap. Also, the part when Marty woke up in a bedroom and called the girl Mom and telling her how he had a bad dream was annoying too. I meant, really? I binge-watched Back To The Future Trilogy and it started to get annoying in the Part 2 :p

Well, afterall, this movie really is a classic that your children or grandchildren should watch in the future. If time travel would be invented in their generation, maybe this movie would be a warm reminder for them :)

Defending Tarantino

Recently, I was caught up in an argument online with a person who loathe Tarantino's works. It all started because of one post in one open social media forum, it said that "Fincher > Tarantino". I was commenting that post and said that they have different style of directing, it's only a matter of preference, but I still prefer to Quentin. And then, there was this person who said that all Tarantino's movies were about sex, drugs and violence, his movies have no real scripts, and that Quentin is only a kid playing with his father's camera DVG 575 Yashica (I didn't even know what kind of camera was that, even I, went to film school).

Well, maybe for some people, Quentin's movies are hard to be accepted by most of the viewers, but I chose to see all of his films differently.

Reservoir Dogs

for me Screenwriting 101 is that you want to deliver your scenes and acts by making the actors did things to show your plot to the audience and give a clear explanation about a scene that you're writing, if it's about an Earthquake, you want to make your viewers see a real Earthquake by making the set shaking. but no, Tarantino never do it in an usual way. He broke the rules yet people seem to enjoy his movies. Clearly, all Tarantino did in Reservoir Dogs was making the characters talk and talk and talk, telling us what happens in the movie. I think people who enjoy Reservoir Dogs are the people who choose to think smart. Tarantino leaves us with his story about diamond heist and let us think about its own story and let us make our own conclusion. not every viewer could do that!

Death Proof

I had to sit through half of the movies, and that was when the movie got interesting. I think the movie is so personal, even sometimes I didn't really get it. It's just about a man killing women and stuffs, just typical Tarantino, but I seem to enjoy the movie, eventhough it doesn't have a clear plot and even not a reason and conclusion of a character's act. You really could use this movie as a refreshment if you're bored watching usual movie that actually has a clear plot and a clear reason and conclusion in each scene. in Death Proof, all you get is excitement and suspense which is nice, for me.

Pulp Fiction

You must think Quentin and Non-Linear storytelling. I got to praise this movie! He did actually breaking a film making rule by actually following the rule. I remember, it was in my editing class (I did study film :p) and my Professor said that Quentin is one of a few directors that has a gut to break film making rule. I was in awe watching Pulp Fiction. His dialogue that was so quote-able, His non-linear storytelling but in the end, the event was actually in a neat order. After that, he just left his viewers with jaw-dropping mouth and keep asking, how this movie is yet different but totally awesome, and for his viewers' that didn't understand what just happen in the movie, Quentin did leave some quotes that is cool, so they could still follow the hype :p

So, those are all my opinions about Tarantino. Maybe that girl, who actually argue with me that Fincher is waaay better because his movie made her think, really could use her brain to actually think and see Quentin's differently. I mean, Fincher's movies are great! he's a really awesome director, but he's just different with Quentin. You can't just bash Tarantino and telling me that Tarantino is a kid playing with his father's handycam, like seriously, if he really is a kid playing with his infamous dad's camera, I think the 4 Oscars that he achieved and one Cannes Palme d'Or speak for themselves. So, think twice if you wanna argue with Tarantino's #1 fangirl :p (who also loves One Direction, mehehe) Quentin is not breaking the rules of nothing because he didn't study cinema and went to film school (as she said), he just simply go to film!

Satisfied much, now?

He's like... say whaaaat?!

Happy Birthday! :)

Hello, You!
Happy Birthday to you. Hope you'll have a great year :)
and this is one of my gifts for you. I'll list every movies that I watched and I think you'd like it. I hope you haven't seen one of these. If you have... then, watch it again! :p

Coherence

You really should watch this movie. I think it's one of the best movies in 2014! It's a low budget indie sci-fi movie and it's interesting to watch :) they said that the director shot this movie without scripts, just came up with the whole things on set. I'd say hell no. this movie really needs time to think about its plot. and the ending was mindfuck too. thought, you'd check it.

Begin Again

It's a sweet movie everybody would love. A musical without massive hard musical numbers. You gotta love Keira Knightley here. She portrayed a lovable sweetheart with an attractive personality. The story itself is light but interesting in so many ways. John Carney (the director) wrapped this movie up beautifully. It's a different kind of musical movie and you'd really love this! :) - I put some of Begin Again OST in the "End Year Jam" Playlist.

Interstellar

Interstellar move up to my #1 Favorite movie of all time. I don't think I need to explain why, because I suppose you have watched this :) one word for this movie: LOVE!

Predestination

For me this movie is a flat okay. But, I found this movie has a very difficult level to made. The story itself built so interestingly but understandable. It's about time travel and has a mindfuck ending too. I recommended this movie because I'm into Paradoxes lately because of Interstellar. Predestination really fulfilled a time-travel geek's dream. It leap into a whole new ideas that I could never think of.

Boyhood

You really should watch this movie! I'm sure you've heard it, right? A 12 years epic directed by Richard Linklater! For me, the story was like usual coming of age movie, but the consistency of 12 years filmed this movie needs to be appreciated more. You literally see a boy grew up in front of you only in 2 hours. isn't that crazy?

Gone Girl

New movie from David Fincher if you missed Fight Club. Gone Girl is a great movie with interesting screenplay. with two Point of View of the characters David Fincher managed to deliver the story successfully and not confusing at all. This movie is sick and great! You should watch it ASAP :)

And that is all. Maybe you've already watched some of it. Well, who knows?

Okay, bye.
Have a great year! :)

The Theory of Everything

For me, The Theory of Everything is clearly a good movie. You want to know why? First, Eddie Redmayne delivered such a class act performance portraying Stephen Hawking. He really blended with the real Stephen Hawking as if he stalk him everywhere just to study even the littlest thing about him.

Second, it's the story. the interesting life of Stephen Hawking, a man with genius mind in our lifetime. You get to see his other side of him in this movie. of course, I haven't seen BBC's Hawking (portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch) so who am I to compare. But this movie doesn't talk about Hawking's history of his success, it tells us the human side of him. Because after all this time, I see him as the smartest person ever lived, I've never thought that he had another interesting side of him. So that's why this movie is interesting and unique, what they try to sell is his love life and not forcing people think really hard about quantum physics and black hole.

Salute to James Marsh who capable to bring us one of heart-moving films in 2014!

BEGIN AGAIN

I always held back when I wanted to watch Begin Again. I think it's just some romantic drama, that would make me remember all of the bad luck love I ever had. Then, I was working with my closest friend, yesterday, and he said "you should really watch Begin Again". He told me that because he really loved this movie and I thought that, he's a hopeless romantic, of course he loves it. I didn't think I'd love Begin Again as much as he does.

Then, because he kept telling me that I HAVE TO watch it, so I watched it. My first reaction when I saw the opening scene, I was like... this movie is different. As the movie went by, I began to love this movie scene by scene. It's a beautiful movie, really. It's a light musical, without hard-set and numerous dancing numbers, but just light and a bit indie movie.

There were this two main characters. The relationship between them was a bit weird, but lovely. You'll keep guessing would they ever be together, but half part of you just don't want them to be together. Because I think they had perfect life before they meet each other. I didn't want to keep guessing because it'd take all the fun and the faith I had in John Carney.

And, I knew John Carney would give me the best ending. The ending that fulfilled all the viewer's needs. I don't want to talk about the ending much further, you'd have to find out yourself.

Begin Again has a very common drama movie's idea. But, John Carney is just good at wrapping this movie so it's different. I mean, he threw us lovely songs, and sung by the lovely miss Keira Knightley. If you watched Begin Again, you'd automatically in love with its soundtrack.

This movie really is a Lost Star. Because I haven't watched this kind of movie in a long time. and it's nice to have this movie around. I think I'll watch this movie everytime I had a bad relationship with someone, because this movie is so inspiring.

I have this quotes that really match with this movie.
"When God closed a door, and you try to re-open it. Somehow, you'll understand why that door was closed in the first place" :)

Oh yeah, one more... I hate Adam Levine's performance here. Like is he trying to be a British? Really? Please Adam, you're smoking hot. So please, just don't ever try that again. Well, after all, he's a really good singer :)

So... that's pretty much about Begin Again. 4 out of 5.
Very Inspiring!

FURY: You Always Enjoy When Brad Pitt Is A Soldier

I watched Fury last week. Midnight Show. I was in love with its trailer because I thought it'd be so epic. So I went to watch it. My friend, Inal, said that "there is not so many movies about tank army, it's interesting" and he's right. it is interesting.

David Ayer opened up with a post-war scene where the only platoon left was Brad Pitt's or as they called him on screen "Wardaddy". This opening showed that these US Army already in desperation. They out-numbered and out-gunned. Well, the story went when Norman Ellison, a war rookie, came and joined their platoon.

I think this movie is really great. with the combination of Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Michael Pena and my long time sweetheart, Logan Lerman, this movie was just a jaw-dropping festival. The story was built, mainly because of those actors. They are perfect. They portrayed their characters greatly and everyone just complete each other. The characters that David Ayer made suited them perfectly. Casting is 100% accurate. I really love watching Brad Pitt portraying such a great soldier. He's just really perfect doing it, he might as well reconsider and joining US Army. I mean, do I have to tell you how cool he is in Inglourious Basterds? and in Fury, he's just so damn perfect.

Beside the acting, the brutality of the World War II on screen was realistic, because when you reached 40 minutes before ending, this is where your heart really pounds. I never really like any War movie, but this is so good, I can't take my mind off of it. The art direction, the characters and the story combined so perfectly. This is definitely a worth-watching movie you should see on your weekends. I'm gonna give Fury 4 out of 5 :)

Happy Weekend!
And this is my gift to you all...

Hello Longtime Sweetheart, you're all grown up already :p

The Maze Runner, More Like The Amazing Runner

I've never been a big fan of The Hunger Games Series. Although I like it, because it reminds me of one of my favorite movie, Battle Royale. Since The Hunger Games reach success and even made it into the top grossing movie, there are a lot of similar movies released in these past few years, such as Divergent, The Mortal Instrument and anything that has The Hunger Games' moods.

In Sunday, I went to the cinema and I felt like I wanted to watch this movie called The Maze Runner. At first I thought that, well, another The Hunger Games alike movie. But, I was the hell wrong!

It is similar with The Hunger Games but cooler! In the first part of the movie, I felt like I was being slapped, because Wes Ball gave me the problem of the movie instantly in the first part. I felt like it was too quick to introduce us to the problem because we haven't yet known the protagonist's background and stuffs. but as the film went, I enjoy it very much. I felt like I didn't need any clear explanation of what was that, and how this happened because I was busy rooting for Thomas (the protagonist) to solve the problem.

And I won't forget to tell you about the suspense Wes Ball built. it was like the most exciting suspense ever! Your heart will pound faster yet you feel excited. I mean this movie was all for entertainment only but super fun! I didn't recall watching this much fun movie before. I think, you will enjoy The Maze Runner as much as I do!  This is super recommended movie to spend your weekends. I give like 4.5 out of 5 for The Maze Runner. If you think this is overrated? then you are overrated :p

So, That's It. Happy Tuesday, Happy Working :)

Oh, and say hello to the cutie who portrayed Jojen Reed in Game of Thrones.
