Happy Birthday! :)

Hello, You!
Happy Birthday to you. Hope you'll have a great year :)
and this is one of my gifts for you. I'll list every movies that I watched and I think you'd like it. I hope you haven't seen one of these. If you have... then, watch it again! :p

Coherence

You really should watch this movie. I think it's one of the best movies in 2014! It's a low budget indie sci-fi movie and it's interesting to watch :) they said that the director shot this movie without scripts, just came up with the whole things on set. I'd say hell no. this movie really needs time to think about its plot. and the ending was mindfuck too. thought, you'd check it.

Begin Again

It's a sweet movie everybody would love. A musical without massive hard musical numbers. You gotta love Keira Knightley here. She portrayed a lovable sweetheart with an attractive personality. The story itself is light but interesting in so many ways. John Carney (the director) wrapped this movie up beautifully. It's a different kind of musical movie and you'd really love this! :) - I put some of Begin Again OST in the "End Year Jam" Playlist.

Interstellar

Interstellar move up to my #1 Favorite movie of all time. I don't think I need to explain why, because I suppose you have watched this :) one word for this movie: LOVE!

Predestination

For me this movie is a flat okay. But, I found this movie has a very difficult level to made. The story itself built so interestingly but understandable. It's about time travel and has a mindfuck ending too. I recommended this movie because I'm into Paradoxes lately because of Interstellar. Predestination really fulfilled a time-travel geek's dream. It leap into a whole new ideas that I could never think of.

Boyhood

You really should watch this movie! I'm sure you've heard it, right? A 12 years epic directed by Richard Linklater! For me, the story was like usual coming of age movie, but the consistency of 12 years filmed this movie needs to be appreciated more. You literally see a boy grew up in front of you only in 2 hours. isn't that crazy?

Gone Girl

New movie from David Fincher if you missed Fight Club. Gone Girl is a great movie with interesting screenplay. with two Point of View of the characters David Fincher managed to deliver the story successfully and not confusing at all. This movie is sick and great! You should watch it ASAP :)

And that is all. Maybe you've already watched some of it. Well, who knows?

Okay, bye.
Have a great year! :)

The Theory of Everything

For me, The Theory of Everything is clearly a good movie. You want to know why? First, Eddie Redmayne delivered such a class act performance portraying Stephen Hawking. He really blended with the real Stephen Hawking as if he stalk him everywhere just to study even the littlest thing about him.

Second, it's the story. the interesting life of Stephen Hawking, a man with genius mind in our lifetime. You get to see his other side of him in this movie. of course, I haven't seen BBC's Hawking (portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch) so who am I to compare. But this movie doesn't talk about Hawking's history of his success, it tells us the human side of him. Because after all this time, I see him as the smartest person ever lived, I've never thought that he had another interesting side of him. So that's why this movie is interesting and unique, what they try to sell is his love life and not forcing people think really hard about quantum physics and black hole.

Salute to James Marsh who capable to bring us one of heart-moving films in 2014!

BEGIN AGAIN

I always held back when I wanted to watch Begin Again. I think it's just some romantic drama, that would make me remember all of the bad luck love I ever had. Then, I was working with my closest friend, yesterday, and he said "you should really watch Begin Again". He told me that because he really loved this movie and I thought that, he's a hopeless romantic, of course he loves it. I didn't think I'd love Begin Again as much as he does.

Then, because he kept telling me that I HAVE TO watch it, so I watched it. My first reaction when I saw the opening scene, I was like... this movie is different. As the movie went by, I began to love this movie scene by scene. It's a beautiful movie, really. It's a light musical, without hard-set and numerous dancing numbers, but just light and a bit indie movie.

There were this two main characters. The relationship between them was a bit weird, but lovely. You'll keep guessing would they ever be together, but half part of you just don't want them to be together. Because I think they had perfect life before they meet each other. I didn't want to keep guessing because it'd take all the fun and the faith I had in John Carney.

And, I knew John Carney would give me the best ending. The ending that fulfilled all the viewer's needs. I don't want to talk about the ending much further, you'd have to find out yourself.

Begin Again has a very common drama movie's idea. But, John Carney is just good at wrapping this movie so it's different. I mean, he threw us lovely songs, and sung by the lovely miss Keira Knightley. If you watched Begin Again, you'd automatically in love with its soundtrack.

This movie really is a Lost Star. Because I haven't watched this kind of movie in a long time. and it's nice to have this movie around. I think I'll watch this movie everytime I had a bad relationship with someone, because this movie is so inspiring.

I have this quotes that really match with this movie.
"When God closed a door, and you try to re-open it. Somehow, you'll understand why that door was closed in the first place" :)

Oh yeah, one more... I hate Adam Levine's performance here. Like is he trying to be a British? Really? Please Adam, you're smoking hot. So please, just don't ever try that again. Well, after all, he's a really good singer :)

So... that's pretty much about Begin Again. 4 out of 5.
Very Inspiring!

FURY: You Always Enjoy When Brad Pitt Is A Soldier

I watched Fury last week. Midnight Show. I was in love with its trailer because I thought it'd be so epic. So I went to watch it. My friend, Inal, said that "there is not so many movies about tank army, it's interesting" and he's right. it is interesting.

David Ayer opened up with a post-war scene where the only platoon left was Brad Pitt's or as they called him on screen "Wardaddy". This opening showed that these US Army already in desperation. They out-numbered and out-gunned. Well, the story went when Norman Ellison, a war rookie, came and joined their platoon.

I think this movie is really great. with the combination of Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Michael Pena and my long time sweetheart, Logan Lerman, this movie was just a jaw-dropping festival. The story was built, mainly because of those actors. They are perfect. They portrayed their characters greatly and everyone just complete each other. The characters that David Ayer made suited them perfectly. Casting is 100% accurate. I really love watching Brad Pitt portraying such a great soldier. He's just really perfect doing it, he might as well reconsider and joining US Army. I mean, do I have to tell you how cool he is in Inglourious Basterds? and in Fury, he's just so damn perfect.

Beside the acting, the brutality of the World War II on screen was realistic, because when you reached 40 minutes before ending, this is where your heart really pounds. I never really like any War movie, but this is so good, I can't take my mind off of it. The art direction, the characters and the story combined so perfectly. This is definitely a worth-watching movie you should see on your weekends. I'm gonna give Fury 4 out of 5 :)

Happy Weekend!
And this is my gift to you all...

Hello Longtime Sweetheart, you're all grown up already :p

The Maze Runner, More Like The Amazing Runner

I've never been a big fan of The Hunger Games Series. Although I like it, because it reminds me of one of my favorite movie, Battle Royale. Since The Hunger Games reach success and even made it into the top grossing movie, there are a lot of similar movies released in these past few years, such as Divergent, The Mortal Instrument and anything that has The Hunger Games' moods.

In Sunday, I went to the cinema and I felt like I wanted to watch this movie called The Maze Runner. At first I thought that, well, another The Hunger Games alike movie. But, I was the hell wrong!

It is similar with The Hunger Games but cooler! In the first part of the movie, I felt like I was being slapped, because Wes Ball gave me the problem of the movie instantly in the first part. I felt like it was too quick to introduce us to the problem because we haven't yet known the protagonist's background and stuffs. but as the film went, I enjoy it very much. I felt like I didn't need any clear explanation of what was that, and how this happened because I was busy rooting for Thomas (the protagonist) to solve the problem.

And I won't forget to tell you about the suspense Wes Ball built. it was like the most exciting suspense ever! Your heart will pound faster yet you feel excited. I mean this movie was all for entertainment only but super fun! I didn't recall watching this much fun movie before. I think, you will enjoy The Maze Runner as much as I do!  This is super recommended movie to spend your weekends. I give like 4.5 out of 5 for The Maze Runner. If you think this is overrated? then you are overrated :p

So, That's It. Happy Tuesday, Happy Working :)

Oh, and say hello to the cutie who portrayed Jojen Reed in Game of Thrones.

FARGO: This Is A True Story

My first impression watching that FX new hit series, Fargo, was... Great! it's a true story and I wonder how the story went.

As I watched, and watched and watched. I was wondering, how the hell it's a true story. I meant, it's too cruel to be true. and, was there a guy who is merciless like Lorne Malvo? I didn't think so.
So, I surfed the internet, and found that Fargo TV Series isn't true. the creator, Noah Hawley said it's just a fictional text that appeared in every episode because he followed The Coen Brothers' decive (the creator of the movie Fargo).

but, afterall, Fargo is as entertaining as a comedy thriller should be. I once tweeted that I love how quirky Martin Freeman picturing Lester Nygaard in the series. He completely different from Bilbo and Dr. Watson. It's like he's this whole new character that is so lame but just so lovable, because, accept it, everyone has been fit in his shoes. and the character Lorne Malvo is evil but there's something interesting about him. he's so merciless yet so lovable. I'm sure you would wondering how Lorne Malvo could stand in his place now. He's just so mysterious.

And about the packaging of the series, you sure you won't doubt FX, right? from the channel who brought you American Horror Story and Louie, you sure you won't doubt them!

So, I sooo recommend you to watch Fargo, if you felt like you're losing Game of Thrones (again, this year) and you're waiting for the whole new fresh episodes from Sherlock (which only have 3 episodes each season, that's a little Benedict Cumberbatch :p). you could watch Fargo. because it's interesting and you just want some more and you'll be addicted to it. it's only 10 episodes in Season 1. so, it's worth to try.

yeah, that's it.
Happy Friday Night!

(which I will spend my night continuing Fargo)

Bye :)

Coherence: Simple Sci-fi That Would Makes Your Heart Pounds

That's quite a long title for a blog post.
But, it's pretty much what I wanna say.

Coherence.

A simple sci-fi movie that makes your heart really pounds the whole time.
This is an indie low-budget movie, but the story just so good.
They said, James Ward Byrkit (the director) only have 5 days and no script when make this. but I say, no freaking way. I mean, you got to be think a lot when making a movie like this. The story itself was about a comet anomaly that happened in a night when the comet fell to the Earth. And you just gotta know who your friends really are.

Everything was so simple like the sets and the shots, but you just get the suspense. The actors are great. I didn't spot any famous face here, but I didn't mind. They were great! The strenght of this movie was the story, and the theory that supported the anomaly that happened in that movie. It was just so powerful.

It's like, watching a lighter version of Donnie Darko.

But, I kinda don't like the ending. I mean, you built the story, the theory and the suspense. And when we reached an anti-climacs, Byrkit gave an open ending. So hate it. I mean, I want everything to be solved! Don't leave me hanging, please.

Despite the ending, I'm gonna give Coherence 4.5 out of 5. I just love this movie very much. You really should watch it if you miss a movie kinda like Donnie Darko.

I just really love this version of Coherence's poster.

The Double

So they said The Double isn't really that great.

Many reviews pointed out that Richard Ayoade (the director) was a little bit Wes Anderson-y, because of his previous film, Submarine. To be fair, I haven't seen that movie (promise you I will and I will review it) but, I don't care. I think and I really honestly think that The Double is one of a killer movies that I've watched. By killer, I meant super cool and stuffs.

So Ayoade opened with Simon's (Jesse Eisenberg) daily routine which was really boring. And then out of the blue, his doppelgangger came to his life and beat him up in everything, like work performance, how to stole a woman's heart, basically everything. They said this movie was an adapted classic tale by Dostoevsky. But Ayoade wrapped it super nicely.

I love everything! the movie itself is so stylish! I always love stylish movie. How he play the lighting so it affected the mood to the viewers. He play every element (like sets and lightings and angles) to shake your heart up. This is a very nice movie. And the idea talking about someone who people thought he didn't exist but he did was new to me. So I really like the story, and the script was written pretty nicely and not very confusing, since for me, this is a sort of complicated movie. But it's fun to watch! You'll be amazed with the sets and the lighting play, it's like you're watching a play in so many different angles. It's crazy!

So, I love The Double and I'm gonna give 4 out of 5 and I'm responsible for it :)

Just Suck My Eyeballs Out

Okay, Hi everybody (like there's somebody reading my blog) I'm back.
Now I just want to write about a sucky movie, which I sometimes really love wasting my time watching sucky, cheesy and pathetic movie.

Vampire Academy.

Your question, why?

I don't even know. I just like watching any movie with attractive characters (so they said).
my opininion about it waaaas.... horrible.
the movie was super horrible, like you wanna make an epic movie about vampire and breaking any Twilight rules, and you just got slump. The movie itself so pathetic. The director wanted to make sooo many suspense but, yeah... I just didn't feel it. The suspense was forced. too forced. the script was even more horrible, I really just didnt get what they were trying to tell the viewers. Story was all fucked up. It's like I just want to suck my both eyeballs out. And it had too many kinds of vampire. I mean, Twilight one is enough. Don't add anything, please.

And still, I watched that movie (maybe because I love Sarah Hyland, she was pretty though)

So, that's my opinion. I don't wanna give my ratings in that movie. too pathetic.

Three Break Up Movies Which Encourage You To Keep On Living

After a full week of wallowing and self-pity phase, now I’m ready to move on to the next stage of break up, ready to letting it all go. I kinda rewatched all those break up movies which will give me some positive energy to move on with my life. Since he said that “we’re not going to work out” or “you deserve someone better”. Oh come on, you know, we haven’t tried it yet, how come you tell me such things? Well, maybe he’s not brave enough to do all those things with me. Well, I’m kinda still in the denial phase, but today I’m so ready to move with my life and I want to share the movies that kinda motivate me and giving me positive vibes to keep on living.

      Annie Hall
I remember telling him that I didn’t like Annie Hall because it’s too personal. Well, I was wrong. I kinda like this movie. It kinda represents my experience about not-so-working relationship and how to letting it all goes. Woody Allen, made such a good personal film about him, and it made me feel I’m not alone. I’m not the only who have experienced this pain. There are a lot of people before me. About, how we were falling in love in the first part, and then one of us felt that it wasn’t right anymore. How we couldn’t be apart with each other after we broke up, but it’s not right to be together all the time like we used to. In the end, Alvy was having a hard time dealing with his break up, but he managed to fix it all and be friends with Annie instead. I want to be Alvy, I want to move on like Alvy and still be friends with Annie. But I think I need process and the best quotes in this movie that gave me a positive vibe and making me ready to face the reality is this:

Well, I guess that's pretty much now how I feel about relationships; you know, they're totally irrational, and crazy, and absurd. But, I guess we keep goin' through it because, uh, most of us... need the eggs

      500 Days of Summer
Tom had been madly in love with Summer for 500 days, after a series of phases to get him back to his own feet, in the end, he was ready to face the reality after a bad break up with Summer. I’m Tom! I was madly in love with this guy, well I can’t say I was in love, but it was pretty much almost there. We had our moments, it was sweet for a while and then he told me reality hit us hard and we have to break up.

This movie taught me to keep on living, because somehow in the end, you’ll get your sweet closure and you’d be ready to move on. Eventhough to reach the closure is super freaking hard. But through the process of bad break up, I know you’re going to be someone better and probably smarter. My favorite Tom’s line is this:

“You know what sucks? Realizing that everything you believe in is complete and utter bullshit”

Tom represents me so much, while Summer’s line, which my favorite too, that makes me see through His eyes is this.

“What happened? Why didn’t they work out” “what always happens. Life”

And the narrator’s line:

“Some people are meant to fall in love with each other, but not meant to be together"

Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind
This one is a movie by Michel Gondry is always be my favorite breakup movie. I was dreaming I could go to the clinic and just erase all my bad memories with anyone who I’ve broken up with. But, this time, no, I don’t. I don’t want to erase my memories with him, I will always cherish it because I once knew a guy that was so sweet and positive and I want those memories keep on living in my head. The same like Joel didn’t want to erase his memories with Clementine in the middle of the process of memories-erasing. Well I guess it’s good to keep those sweet memories with anybody that once you were falling in love with. To realize, he was once that person. I mean, breaking up doesn’t mean you have to forget what you’ve been through with him, it’s just one of you doesn’t feel like it’s right anymore to date.

I remember Joel said…

“I’m just… happy. I’m exactly where I wanna be”

I was happy. And I was exactly where I wanna be.

I recalled that I still have so many plans with him, like we’re going to watch these movies (most of my favorite one) together. Or that plan about how we’re going to meet, and we’re going to visit Iceland someday. It’s still there; I don’t want to erase it. Because it made me feel how good and happy it was when you’re falling in love. And it doesn’t mean we can’t do our plans together. Maybe someday, if we ever meet, we would do it. But if we won’t ever meet, I’ll just cherish it as sweet memories that I’ve experienced.

That was the three breakup movies, that could totally help you going through your process of breakup. You probably should check that out. And if you ever experienced one, don’t ever feel that you’re alone and maybe don’t think to kill yourself. I know it’s devastating, but somehow, people are experienced it long before us, and they managed to succeed and keep on living with their own lives J

Postcards From The Zoo

I’ve wanted to watch Postcards From The Zoo (Kebun Binatang) for a really long time ago. I’m automatically falling in love with Edwin since I watched his praktika’s film, Kara Anak Sebatang Kara. And two weeks ago Kineforum held a movie screening, mostly they screened the movies from Babi Buta Film Production and Postcards From The Zoo was there! I was like yay! J

So, the story is very simple, about a girl who wanted to touch a Giraffe’s stomach so badly since she was a kid. But Edwin took us to that main goal in the movie very interestingly. I mean, he took us everywhere but you wouldn’t complain about it, because you’d just enjoy it so much. The uniqueness of this movie became its power. Ladya Chery delievered such a class act, she really blended in with Lana, the character she portrayed. As a zookeeper, Lana had to be close with the animals, and Ladya Cheryl gave it to us, she was in a cage with a tiger and feeding a mother and baby hippos. How awesome it was! I always loved her performace since Fiksi. Edwin sucessfully making the viewers enjoy this unique film so much, eventhough you’d think some of the things were weird, but you’d just love it.

I gave 3.5 out of 5 for Postcards From The Zoo. It was a really good movie, and I think Indonesian directors should make this kinda movie instead those crappy horror movies. Seriously? We live in 2014, ghosts are not the only thing that exicte the viewers.

The Beach

So, I watched The Beach a really long time ago, and just now I wanted to finish my writing draft about The Beach. This movie by Danny Boyle seriously didn’t impress me at all. I mean, the first 30 minutes was really intriguing and interesting. You would really curious where Danny Boyle would take you. But seriously, the film should end in the first 30 minutes. The next minutes was just boring and suck. Ugh, I just can’t wait for it to end. I even pause for like many times to kill the boredom. The conflict wasn’t clear, what the fuck they wanted to do? Because I don’t need to watch a 2 hours movie just to finding out what the hell hippies wanted to do with their own lives. To be fair, I watched it because I like Leo DiCaprio and how he always delivers such a class act. But here? Yeah you really wish he was. Although it was him who kept me to watch this movie. So, my verdict is 1,5 out of 5. Like seriously, the scenery was beautiful but the hippies? Really? I don’t understand what they tried to do with their lives.

Even Leo seems like he doesn't know what he supposed to do.

Well, It's Not The Hunger Games

I actually watched Divergent like two weeks ago. I didn't want to watch it at first, because I wasn't interested in that movie. I thought it was just a movie which follow the nowadays hype. when people love The Hunger Games, they made Divergent. I actually like Shailene Woodley, I think that girl is cool. I admire so much her performance in The Spectacular Now. So, I guess it worth my time, at least I could see Shailene and Kate Winslet's performances if the movie were really dull.

But, no. Not really. Divergent isn't like The Hunger Games at all. Maybe people said so, because in Divergent they also divided people into 5 factions, like the districts in The Hunger Games. But, the story is quite different and not really bad. it's intriguing and interesting to follow. The protagonist was lovable too, I mean, Tris, portrayed by Ms. Woodley came from this unnoticed faction and now she becomes a strong person. You'll be rooting for her big time, eventhough she's not Katniss Everdeen, but you'll love her.

The only thing that makes me bored was the overlong duration. I don't know, Neil Burger probably wants us to see the details of the book when he made it into a movie, but I think he can shorten it. I mean, this book isn't Lord of The Rings: Return of The King when people are okay with its long duration, but Divergent? seriously, he could end it faster and I think it's going to be better if he ended it faster than that.

So, my verdict is Divergent deserves 3 out of 5 points :) it's entertaining and fun. It even makes your heart races. If you like The Hunger Games, Divergent is worth to try.

Last Forever

I’ve been a fan of How I Met Your Mother for like 2 years. Yeah, I was late to catch up with the show, because at first, I thought the show was mediocre and not funny at all. Until one day, I ran out of TV Show and started to watch the whole season 1. I immidiately fell in love with all the characters. I mean, every character has their own unique characteristic and they have something that represents them. Like Lily, she has Aldrin Justice. Marshall is the fudge, Ted is “nothing good ever happens after 2 AM”, Barney is Legend… wait for it… dary, and Robin is Robin Sparkles. These things make the viewers and the characters became so close. How I Met Your Mother has a very powerful effect to its viewers. We adapt things that had been said and done in the show in real life.

It’s a little bit devastating when Carter Bays and Craig Thomas announced that season 9 is the last season of the show. I meant, for those who watch this from the very first season, How I Met Your Mother is not only about how Ted met his future wife, it’s more about the gang’s friendships, career path, adventure and silly things that they’ve done. Me, as a loyal fan, never bother who the mother is, because I saw this show more than just the story of how Ted met his wife.

The finale, Bays & Thomas wrapped two episodes for the whole 40 minutes something for the finale. Althought the pace of the finale was too fast, because they are trying to answer so many questions that they’ve given us for 9 seasons, but still, it was a beautiful finale. I’m impressed and it’s worth waiting for 9 seasons. I’m really satisified with the closing of everyone’s problems that had happened for these 9 seasons. The ending of the Last Forever Part 2 was the most beautiful ending ever. Without any dialogue, the fans already knew what will happen next; Bays & Thomas used this symbolic Blue French Horn to wrap it up. And yes, no description needed. In this Last Forever part 2, we finally knew what was the purpose of Ted telling his stories and the gang for 9 seasons. I don’t know, what I should say other than beautiful ending, really. I really really really love it. I’m glad that I’m a How I Met Your Mother fan. This finale will be Last Forever in its fans' hearts :)

Oh yeah, but seriously, what happened to the pineapple???
